This press ad stemmed from an idea from the strong connection between Hobart and Sydney. Not just the early settlers, but the recent history of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race. Keith Batt, owner of Nant Whisky, was a keen yachtie back in his day. While we were recovering from a 3 day reccie at the distillery, the idea of a way to amplify each new Nant Whisky Bar opening was to send the first barrel for each bar via a boat, like in the good old days. Within 10 minutes, Keith had bought Maxi Ragamuffin, a 3 times line honours winner of the race. She was in need of a new fit out, and branding, having been a corporate charter boat in the Whitsundays for her previous chapter. Several months later, she was ready to set sail with her most precious cargo onboard, to Melbourne for the launch of the new Nant Whisky Bar. This not only reinforced where Nant whisky was made, but added to the romance and gave the brand some great PR. This press ad appeared in newspapers and yachting magazines.
